The Castel di Pugna estate was founded in the first half of the twentieth century as indicated by the wine vintages jealously kept in the cellars dug in the tuff and in the foundations of the Castello di Pugna (already existent in 1189, burned and almost completely destroyed by the Florentines before the Battle of Monteaperti in 1259).
The founder, Count Carlo Alberto Fumi Cambi Gado, an excellent viticulturist from Orvieto of noble patrician origin, moved to the estate in Siena and, with unusual passion (today handed down to his son Luigi Alberto), choose the best of each vintage, producing a wine of excellent quality.
The family’s emblem is a burning tower which is represented on a wooden shield of the XII. century. Representation we can find on the label of the CASTELPUGNA wine.
The property extends itself for 35.00 hectares of which 14.00 hectares of vineyards, 3.00 hectares of olive groves, 7.00 hectares of arable land.
